Kingston LGBT Committee

Name: Karisa Position: Womens Officer Role: My role as the Women's Officer is a new role this year, in title only. It is my job to act as co-president with the Open Place Officer and make decisions about the society. We co-ordinate activities, events and make sure things run smoothly in the group. Along with organising these things we run the committee meetings ensuring that all things such as publicity and funds are in good standing. Overall, my position ensures that women are fairly represented in all LGBT matters in the society and that they are not overlooked. Bio: Hello, my name is Karisa and I am a third year Film and Television Studies student. I originally hail from America, which means people sometimes become fixated on my accent. I like doughnuts, and any sort of pastry really. Most of the time you can find me glued to my tv watching films and shows, and if I'm not doing that then I'm talking everyone's ears off about said films or shows. This is my second year as Women's Officer for the LGBT. My role is that of co-president (along with the Open Place Officer) which means I help plan and organise all of the activities that take place throughout the year and ensure that women are fairly included/represented. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me at my address below and I'll be happy to get back to you.

Name: Adam Position: Open Place Officer Role: Primarily the role of Open place officer is as one side of a co-presidency with the Women's officer of the society. This shared presidency ensures both a wider scope for ideas with regards to the running of the society but also means the society has both a male and female chair at meetings.
Secondly, though just as important, my role exists to protect the safe-place policy of the LGBT society. That the meetings and events are a safe place for everyone concerned, where they can feel safe and enjoy their time with the LGBT is vital.
Last but not least I'm here to make your time with us as enjoyable as possible, whilst hopefully opening your eyes to a bit of LGBT history and culture in the process. As well as being a safe and informative place, the LGBT should be somewhere you can socialize, make friends and be yourself. Bio: Hi LGBT folk! I'm Adam, I'm a final year English Lit & Politics student, studying at Penrhyn Road campus (Then I'm out into the scary world!). I've always enjoyed the LGBT society and will continue to have time for its members past and present - be it in an official capacity or as part of the diverse and welcoming mix of its members.
This is the first year I have I have been involved in with the committee, and we've already got loads of great progress made with events and lots for you to look forward to.
I enjoy odd humor, I like dogs most people think are ugly and singing duets in the shower with my partner Jason.
See you in October!

Name: Rebecka Position: Treasurer Role: I'm the Treasurer for your LGBT, which basically means that I have to keep the money safe and sound so that we get to do all that fun stuff we like! That's pretty much it for being the Treasurer, but I'm also an active member within the Committee, helping to organise events, fight your causes and come up with interesting things for us to do. Feel free to email me if you're having any LGBT related issues, or just to chat. :) Bio: I'm pretty much a big geek! I love quirky offbeat comedy, beat poetry and I'm a fan of anything Joss Whedon. My consoles of choice are the SNES and the PSone, anything else is crazy realistic and I can't work it! I'm in my third year of a degree in Creative Writing and Film, which hopefully will enable me to pursue a career in writing for the stage. I get a bit up and down, probably due to the amount of caffeine charging around my system, but once we're over that jittery coffee nerves phase, you'll find that I can be one of the decent ones. :) Again, if you're having any troubles with LGBT stuff or otherwise, drop me an email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Name: Siobhan Position: Publicity Officer Role: I am the Publicity Officer; in other words I publicise the LGBT. This
includes helping run the website, creating Facebook events, designing
Posters, Motion Graphics, and Leaflets & Flyers...
This role requires me to be Artistic and Creative using programs such as
Photoshop, illustrator, Fireworks, After Effects and Flash.
If you have any enquires about publicity matters or events do not hesitate
to send me an email... Bio: I have just finished my final year as an undergraduate studying Media + Cultural Studies BA Hons, and I'm now moving on to postgraduate life as a Digital Media MA Student.
I aim to build a career in advertising, hopefully designing logos, and Motion Graphics for the Web, but definitely travel before I get too stuck in!
I Love my guitars, all types of Music apart from heavy Drum n Bass and old school Country... My most played song on my itunes is Headlock by Imogen Heap. I'm more about the films than TV, as I rarely have time to catch my favourite programmes so I give up all together. Speaking of films, my favourite genre is Horror, as I love freaking my self out to the point where I'm running down the road screaming (I'm exaggerating)... I am a very sociable person, and would go insane if I didn't see the outside world!
